Type Uncasted was a youth-led theatre and performance company created in 2017 that served young artists in Southern New Hampshire. Type Uncasted was originally formed by a group of high school students who saught to build opportunities for themselves and their peers to perform roles and musical numbers that they wouldn’t otherwise get to; after the first summer, it quickly grew into something much larger. Teens and young adults, some with extensive performance experience and some who’d never been on stage but who had always wanted to try it, all found community in Type. In 2019, I stepped into Type Uncasted’s leadership team as the Assistant Director/Choreographer, and took over as the Director for the following two years. In 2020, at 18 years old, I led the organization to establish itself as a 501c3 non-profit recognized by the State of New Hampshire. Type Uncasted presented five annual Musical Showcases from 2017-2021, all hosted in the 900-seat, state-of-the-art Stockbridge Theatre in Derry, NH. Producing and directing Type Uncasted was a formative experience for me as a young artist, and I remain to be very proud of the work we created and the environment we fostered within our community.
