EMMA CAHOON

Director, Actor, Theatremaker

Emma Cahoon (she/her) is a theatre-maker dedicated to the art of asking questions. A graduate of Boston University with a BFA in Theatre Arts and minor in Arts Leadership, she is currently based in New England. Emma has worked with organizations across the country including theatre KAPOW, Central Square Theater, What Would the Neighbors Say?, the Seven Devils New Play Foundry, and more. Emma’s directing practice centers elevating and exploring dramatic texts to their fullest depths; her work starts by diving into what’s written on the page, and then she leads actors and designers through an investigation of all that lies in white space. Emma values curating collaborative rehearsal spaces built on equal parts creativity, joy, and rigor.

Recent, Current, Upcoming:

After a second successful run of theatre KAPOW’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in April of 2025, Emma directed a second collaboration between Ballet Misha & theatre KAPOW at Saint Anselm College: Romeo & Juliet (July 2025).

Emma recently closed theatre KAPOW’s Every Brilliant Thing, which she directed. It ran in February 2025 at BNH Stage and the Winnipesaukee Playhouse.

Emma served as the dramaturg for Claire Soleil Gardner’s new play Out of the Earth, which was workshopped as part of the inaugural New to the Neighborhood residency program in Brooklyn, NY. Read more about the project here.
